



Singapore will once again lead international leaders and infocomm industry delegates at the iGov Global Forum, to be spearheaded by Mr. Peter Ho, Head of Civil Service and Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.
At least S$1.1 billion in government funds will be allotted by the Singapore government for IT-related projects—such as electronic service delivery of government correspondences for individuals and businesses, biometrics for immigration screening and clearance, and streamlined storage of X-ray records of Armed Forces personnel—for the year 2010.
Ten Singaporean government agencies have recently been awarded for improving online service delivery and maintaining constant availability over the years.
The Singapore Government announced plans to invest S$1.1 billion worth of new infocomm tenders in Financial Year (FY) 2010. This is consistent with past years’ procurement trends, excluding one-off major developmental projects such as the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network and SOE projects, with the actual procurement in FY2009 being S$1.12 billion.
Industry leaders from the infocomm sector of Singapore have reacted positively with the recent changes in the budget allocations for the infocomm industry, saying “it provides the industry with significant opportunities to help enterprises improve productivity through automation.”
In line with its aim to enrich the diversity of Singapore’s infocomm ecosystem, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) will be focusing on three development themes over the next three to five years to develop the start-ups in the infocomm ecosystem. The themes are Innovation Catalyst, Market Connector and Talent Bridge.

The Standard ICT Operating Environment (SOEasy), the largest Singapore Government infocomm project in scope and scale, has started rolling out services to the first batch of agencies. Since July 2009, the public officers in these agencies are enjoying working in a seamless environment that promotes communication, collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
