New programs under the Infocomm Security Masterplan 2 (MP2) are being introduced through close collaboration with the public, private and people sectors in an effort to enhance Singapore's infocomm security preparedness. The programs will boost the security of the national internet infrastructure and government infocomm infrastructure and services against cyberthreats. It also aims to enhance competencies among the public, private and people sectors.
The three new programs aim to address and strengthen different areas of infocomm security under the MP2 launched in 2008 through a multi-agency effort led by IDA under the guidance of the National Infocomm Security Committee. Developed with the industry, the new programs will achieve the following:
1) Enable a Secure and Resilient Internet Infrastructure
This program aims to bolster the security of the nation’s internet infrastructure against cyberthreats through the issuance of early warnings and undertaking of appropriate pre-emptive actions.
a) Industry Code of Practice
A Code of Practice on infocomm security that is aligned with international standards and best practices will be issued by third quarter of the year. The Code of Practice to be incorporated into the telecommunications regulatory framework set specific security controls and outcomes to ensure that baseline security is put in place to deal with current and emerging cyber threats. Periodic audits will be conducted by IDA to ensure that ISPs observe the Code of Practice.
