After overtaking India as the call center capital of the world in 2011, the Philippines is now eyeing leadership in 4 fast-growing outsourcing services -- healthcare information management outsourcing, finance and accounting outsourcing, HR outsourcing and animation and game development.

Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) Deputy Executive Director Alejandro Melchor said the goal is to double market share by 2016.

“We are the world’s number one call center provider and we intend to attain market leadership in the UK and Australia as well," he said during ICTO's joint press conference with the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP).

A release in the website of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said the Philippine IT-BPO industry has contributed approximately $11 billion in export revenues, 640,000 direct jobs and approximately 1.5 million indirect jobs to the Philippine economy in 2011. By 2016, government executives expect BPO revenues to contribute 8.6 percent to the country's GDP.

ICTO Executive Director Louis Casambre was quoted as saying that its most significant impact would be on employment. Thus, ICTO has vowed to provide strong support for BPAP-ICTO partnership initiatives such as the Global Competitiveness Assessment Tool, recruitment marketing,  and workforce core skills development.

BPAP Chairman Alfredo Ayala said tthe industry believes that it can generate $25 billion in export revenue, 1.3 million in direct jobs and over 3 million indirect jobs by 2016, but only if industry can further step up its partnership with government.
