Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL), a large commercial bank in Laos, is modernizing its core banking system to increase bank’s efficiencies around risk and growth management while improving overall profitability of the business.

Oracle reported that BCEL will implement Oracle Flexcube Universal Banking and Oracle Exadata Database Machine. BCEL selected Oracle Exadata for its Flexcube roll out due to the benefits of high performance and scalability. An Oracle-led benchmark completed in 2010 for Oracle Flexcube on Oracle Exadata demonstrated processing of 100 million accounts in 4 hours and 23 minutes, representing volumes at some of the world’s largest retail banks.

As BCEL’s customer base expands with a need for more diverse services, the bank will rely on Flexcube’s complete banking product suite of award-winning solutions for retail banking, private banking, corporate banking, investment and asset management, investor servicing, and microfinance.

“BCEL's activities continue to grow steadily and strengthen in various fields including size of assets, deposits, loans, and number of clients,” said Sisaath Neumasa, The Chief of BCEL IT Center. “Oracle Flexcube’s comprehensive functionality, combined with the superior performance of Oracle Exadata, will offer us the best platform to support our growth in the years ahead. Oracle Exadata will save us months of testing and configuration time and minimizes the risk associated with implementation.”
