Construction for the extension of the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital (HKSH) has recently been completed. The new rooms and wards are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, particularly, Information plus Entertainment (IE) Buddy, that provides high quality medical service to patients.
The IE Buddy is a Patient Infotainment Terminal (PIT) that provides clinical information and entertainment to patients while they are in the hospital. The HKSH is the first hospital in Hong Kong to use the new technology to personalize healthcare, enhance patient safety, streamline processes and provide both hospital information and entertainment to patients.
In addition to the IE Buddy, the HKSH has taken measures to improve patient care. For instance, spaces in between beds in the wards have been increased in order to minimize the risk of cross infection. The hospital has also installed movable floor to celiling partitions in between beds to prohibit transfer of bacteria and to provide privacy to the patients. Ventilation systems have also been put in place to prevent the spreading of contaminated air throughout the hospital.
