Genetics wellness company Imagene Labs has launched its DNA-based skincare, nutrition and fitness solutions customized to individuals' unique genetic profiles in Hong Kong.
Headquartered in Singapore, the company has one of the leading genomic labs in the region.
Combining world-class in-house testing facilities, proprietary bioinformatics platform from New York City-based LifeNome Inc., proprietary research in DNA testing, and an intimate understanding of Asian genetics, it has designed three types of tests: oriSKIN, oriVIT, and oriFIT to search for genetic markers that influence a person's skin, nutrition and fitness dispositions.
Thus, it can formulate products for the individual based on their unique genetic make-up to immediately begin optimizing the body's response to attaining overall and long-term health and wellness.
Consumers start their journey on Ori (AskOri.com), an online service that guides them to select and order their test kit. Upon receiving the kit, they submit their genetic material in the form of a saliva sample that is returned to Imagene's in-house lab where their DNA is extracted and analyzed.
OriSKIN tests for 10 key traits relating to skin, including elasticity, predisposition to premature wrinkling, pigmentation, and sensitivity.
Depending on the type of test(s) selected, they receive a personalized report detailing their genetic predispositions to specific traits. Imagene Labs then develops tailor-made products for the individual based on their unique genetic make-up to provide health-conscious consumers with personalized genomics guidance on nutrition, fitness, skin care and other wellness topics.
Other than oriSKIN to specially customize for consumer's skincare needs, oriFIT recommendations offer personalized fitness programs with greater accuracy, as well as high-performance fitness supplements, based on results of oriFIT report. Those who take the test of oriVIT can purchase nutritional supplements of specific vitamins and minerals customized to their body's needs and predispositions.
"This is the first time a genomics company is offering a complete, end-to-end wellness solution for consumers in the region. We aim to spearhead this new approach of genomics-based, personalized health and wellness that was previously reserved for clinical and diagnostic applications to cut through wellness myths, and access truly personalized and science-based solutions that address their individual needs,” said Dr. Wong Mun Yew, Managing Director of Imagene Labs.
Imagine Labs has identified a strong market demand and the potential for customized and pre-emptive wellness products as consumers are increasingly seeking the latest in wellness products to make them look, feel and live better, according to Dr. Wong.
